Abstract:
Abstract In public organizations, engaged employees are motivated by a sense of purpose and a commitment to serving the public interest. When knowledge is freely exchanged among public servants, a culture of collaboration emerges, leading to several positive outcomes that contribute to enhanced job engagement, pivotal for sustaining organizational operations. Additionally, within the changing landscape emphasizing sustainability, a knowledge-intensive environment enables public organizations to adapt to technological advancements and develop sustainable policies. Consequently, this study aims to identify the factors impacting knowledge sharing and job engagement among public servants in Ho Chi Minh City at all levels of government. The study employed quantitative research methods with a sample of 300 respondents. The results revealed that centralization, integration, support, social interaction, reciprocity, and trust affect knowledge sharing, while formalization, centralization, integration, social interaction, and reciprocity affect job engagement. Notably, knowledge sharing was found to promote public servants’ job engagement. Despite lacking longitudinal data, the study provides valuable insights for public managers to encourage knowledge sharing in the workplace, thereby increasing public servants’ commitment to the organization's success and sustainability.
