Chapter Chapter 15 in Transforming Logistics in a Developing Nation, 2024, pp 415-431 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract As we stand on the precipice of a new era where technology is reshaping industries across the globe, this chapter offers a compelling insight into how Vietnam's logistics sector is poised for transformation. The heart of this chapter is a deep dive into the potential impact of technology on various aspects of the logistics industry. The chapter summarizes the major trends and explores four major technological capabilities: generating, integrating information, optimizing, and automation technology. Several technologies have increased influence on logistics and SCM; however, few have reached the maturity level to move to the next stage. This chapter focuses on key technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and automation technologies that are shaping the Vietnamese logistics industry toward resilience and sustainable logistics and supply chains. While providing a holistic view of the future, the chapter concludes with a section on challenges and potential roadblocks. These include issues related to data security, the digital divide, and the need to upskill the workforce to adapt to new technologies.
