Chapter Chapter 2 in Structure and Dynamics of Asymmetric Interactions, 2025, pp 53-76 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract One of the areas of endeavor in recent multi-dimensional scaling research concerns the representation of the asymmetric relationships between objects (for example, Lingoes, The Guttman-Lingoes nonmetric program series. Mathesis Press, 1973; Young, Paper presented at U.S.-Japan Seminar on MDS, San Diego, U.S.A., 1975; Hayashi, Proceedings of the 45-th annual conference of Japan Statistical Society at Fukuoka University, 1977). But as Young (Paper presented at U.S.-Japan Seminar on MDS, San Diego, U.S.A., 1975) argued, there have been relatively few applications of this feature.
