Abstract:
Abstract In Chap. 8 , we introduced a differential equation model called DYNASCAL, which was proposed with one of my colleagues in 1990. In that model we utilized a set of nonlinear differential equationsNonlinear differential equation(s) to model the dynamicsDynamics of asymmetric interactionsAsymmetric interaction(s) among objects. However, DYNASCALDYNASCAL has several shortfalls, which were pointed out in Chap. 8 . Moreover, there exist other serious problems in general in modelling a set of longitudinal asymmetric similaritySimilarity (similarities) matrices. One is concerned with the number of instants of time at which such matrices can be observed. For example, we cannot gather sociomatrices so frequently in a short period of time because in such a situation subjects might not rate other members independently. Another is concerned with the nature of the phenomenon for which we want to observe.
