Chapter Chapter 1 in The Mystery of the Ultimatum Game, 2025, pp 1-11 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter serves as the foundational launch pad for our book by introducing the ultimatum game, which is well-known for its significant discrepancy between theory and experiment. That gap serves as the starting point for the ‘mystery’ explored in this book. Ultimately, unravelling this mystery leads to an investigation of the fundamental basis of human decision-making and, further, to an exploration of the very essence of human being itself.
