Abstract Since the early 1950s, significant changes have been brought about in the fields of consumption, production, and government policies. The changes in each field of the economic activities have been tremendously accelerated by the technological innovations in the information and communications. From a perspective of the industrial location theory, the major changes in the three fields in this period are briefly summarized as follows.
