Abstract: Abstract Over the past forty years, socialism with Chinese characteristics has made remarkable progress. Meanwhile, the economic theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics has also achieved great development and prosperity. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, here we provide a brief review of the exploration, development and innovation of the economic theory and an outlook of what to come in the future.
