Abstract: Abstract As one of the developing countries strongly affected by climate change, Vietnam considers responding to climate change an urgent and vital requirement to develop the country in a sustainable, prosperous, and safe manner and contribute to the implementation of the global effort under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement. According to the report submitted to the UNFCCC Secretariat, Vietnam has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 8% by 2030. The declaration of commitment to net “zero” emissions by 2050 at the COP26 Conference in November 2021 further showed Vietnam’s determination to respond to climate change. To fulfill these commitments, over the past time, Vietnam has issued many policies and legal regulations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, serving as the basis for implementing the target for a low-carbon economy. This article will analyze the policies and regulations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Vietnam, making some recommendations to improve policies and regulations in this area.
