Abstract: Abstract The project was conducted in Son Dong district, Bac Giang province, a mountainous area in Northern Vietnam with a large share of population of ethnic minorities or in low-income class. It aims to create a theoretical model of green economic development to reduce poverty sustainably in the mountainous area. With the main goal being to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the model has shown the potential for green development due to a significant reduction in emissions. At the same time, the green business shows a stable income from an economic perspective or, in other words, green economic development associated with sustainable poverty reduction. Based on the findings, a number of solutions have been suggested to promote green economics. In detail, the solutions focus on three main groups that are policy, economic model change and the exploitation of natural resources.
