Abstract:
Abstract With the Meiji Restoration in 1868, Japan became a capitalist country, and the economy grew steadily. As a result, the industrial world needed people with more advanced commercial education, and higher commercial schools were established throughout the country to provide specialized education. In 1887, Japan’s first government-run higher commercial school was established in Tokyo. In 1902, the second higher commercial school was established in Kobe, which was called the Kobe Higher Commercial School. At the same time, they changed the name of the higher commercial school in Tokyo from the simple name of Higher Commercial School to Tokyo Higher Commercial School.
