A chapter in Industry Forward and Technology Transformation in Business and Entrepreneurship, 2023, pp 299-311 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The purpose of this paper was to investigate the effect of information technology (IT) on resources such as human resources (HR), organisational resources (OR), relational resources (RR), and operational performance (OP) in logistic service providers (LSP). This study explored the influence of resource dimensions on operational performance using data obtained from 85 LSP in Selangor Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (SFFLA), Johor Freight Forwarders Association (JOFFA), and Penang Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (PFFA). Furthermore, three resource characteristics were indicated and connected to operational performance using SmartPLS analysis. The results of the contingency analysis showed that the impact of IT on various resources varied in terms of resource seamless integration and operational performance. According to the configuration results, resources such as HR and OR influenced operational performance through their relationship with IT, but RR had no influence on OP through its relationship with IT. Thus, hypothesis 3 was rejected with no effect on the OP. Future studies should focus on investigating other firms’ resource capacities and performance metrics, as well as expanding this study to other countries and areas.
