Abstract:
Abstract One of the key issues highlighted in the recent United Nation Education Summit is digital transformation of the education system. Malaysia, through its recent policy in Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL), has outlined its strategy to enable all school students at the primary and secondary levels to have access to digital learning experience individually. Meanwhile, at the tertiary level, it is compulsory for any academic programmes to integrate digital skills as a part of their programme learning outcomes based on the latest Malaysia Qualification Framework (MQF) since 2018. These national directive strategies require a well-balanced approach towards sustainable and impactful digital learning experience when acquiring digital skills. However, many education institutions at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels are struggling to embrace digital transformation. Therefore, this paper reviews the existing literatures on digital transformation in the context of Malaysian education systems to identify the missing component of digital wellbeing. It highlights the needs for the application of digital wellbeing for education systems towards sustainable development.
