Chapter Chapter 11 in Women in Aviation, 2023, pp 145-159 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Gender equality is not a new thing that is being discussed in the working environment. It is one of the sustainable development goals that need to be achieved in 2030, which is achieving gender equality and empower all women and girls. This chapter examines the current state of gender representation and diversity in the aviation industry, identifying the barriers that women face and looking into potential solutions to promote gender equity and diversity. Despite its significant contributions to global connectivity and economies, the industry is plagued by gender disparities and a lack of diversity, especially in leadership positions. Women face significant barriers to entry and advancement in the Asian aviation industry. Promoting gender equity and diversity in the aviation industry is critical for women's advancement, improving industry competitiveness, and contributing to global connectivity and economic growth. Several recommendations for future research are also provided at the end of this chapter.
