Chapter Chapter 14 in Women in Aviation, 2023, pp 185-200 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter explores the role of women in aviation transport policymaking. It begins with an overview of the historical challenges women face in the aviation industry and their achievements in various sectors. The essay then delves into the role of women in aviation transport policymaking, discussing the significance of gender diversity in policy decision-making and its impact on promoting sustainable and equitable aviation policies. It highlights the importance of addressing gender bias in policymaking institutions and encouraging the participation of women in policymaking processes. The essay also examines women’s challenges in this sector, such as the lack of gender parity in leadership positions and the need for more research on the gender-specific effects of aviation policies. Finally, the essay concludes by providing recommendations to enhance the participation of women in aviation transport policymaking and create a more gender-inclusive policy environment.
