Abstract:
Abstract The contradiction between limited resources and rapid development in the automobile industry has been driving society to seek the supply of recyclable resources from End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs). In order to design the recycling plan for ELVs and appropriate disposal of the renewable resources, it is necessary to predict the recoverable potential of the renewable resource of ELVs in China. This paper estimated the potential population of ELVs and all recyclable resources from them. The obtained result show that the number of end-of-life vehicles on the Chinese mainland was forecasted to be 26.5 million vehicles in 2030 and 31.5 million vehicles in 2035. The recyclable resource potential recovered from ELVs will be 93.4 million tons in 2030 and will reach 102.3 million tons in 2035, showing a great potential for recycling. The increase of ELVs and the increased demand for resources due to economic growth are making the recycling of China’s automotive resources an urgent and challenging task.
