Chapter Chapter 1 in Carrying Capacity of China’s Resources, Environment, Population, and Economy, 2024, pp 1-101 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Sustainable development is one of the major concerns around the world today, and, one of the common goals pursued by mankind. It does not necessarily mean keeping development without resource consumption or environmental pollution or making development completely independent of resources and environment. Instead, it means keeping development within the carrying limits of resources, environment, population, and economy to make sure that development will continue. Therefore, sustainable development essentially means the sustained carrying of ecosystems, that is, the overall and sustained carrying capacity of resources, environment, population, and economy.
