Chapter Chapter 6 in Modernizing.NET Web Applications, 2024, pp 341-398 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract .NET has always been a favorite choice for building “line of business” applications. It was not impossible to build a public-facing website in .NET, but in the first years of .NET Framework, the experience was quite subpar. ASP.NET Web Forms, the only web UI framework until the introduction of ASP.NET MVC in 2009, often generated HTML that was hard to ingest by search engines. Thus, it required a significant effort to make the pages SEO-friendly.
