Chapter Chapter 2 in Secular Stagnation Theories, 2020, pp 25-35 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides the basic theoretical foundations of secular stagnation. Although defining secular stagnation is a difficult endeavor, the chapter aims to give a broad definition of economic stagnation in terms of its most common symptoms. It is broadly distinguished between demand- and supply-side stagnation theories, although there are still major differences among the theories within these two groups. Moreover, the chapter provides a short overview of economists involved in the debates on secular stagnation, reaching from the eighteenth to the early twenty-first century.
