A chapter in Russian and Western Economic Thought, 2022, pp 67-95 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The chapter informs about the contributions of Ladislaus von Bortkiewicz to economic analysis, major Western and Russian influences on his thinking, and the reception of his work in East and West. It is shown that von Bortkiewicz, through his mathematical background, long-standing position at the University of Berlin, and extensive knowledge of Western and Russian works on economic theory, was in a special position which allowed him to assume the role of a mediator of economic ideas between Russia and the West and between different approaches to the theory of value and distribution.
