Friedrich List’s Understanding of Democracy
Eugen Wendler ()
Chapter Chapter 9 in The Political Economy of Friedrich List, 2023, pp 89-99 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Contemporary politicians rightly keep reminding us what a great democracy is in our society and that it must always be protected and fought for anew. In the face of the coronavirus epidemic, we are witnessing how fragile our democracy is and how it is threatened by extreme groups, such as the cross-thinkers or the Pegida movement, who pretend to be the people but in reality represent only a minority that wants to impose its will on the majority, not to mention violent terrorists, hate preachers, conspiracy theorists, anti-Semites and race fanatics.
