Chapter Chapter 14 in A History of Economics, 2024, pp 215-217 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter examines the development of institutionalism as a distinct approach within the field of economics, tracing its origins to American economists in the early twentieth century. American institutionalism was influenced by the Historical School, particularly Schmoller. It also benefited from input from German-speaking emigrants trained in the Historical School in the German Empire.
