Chapter Chapter 4 in United States Health Care Policymaking, 2012, pp 75-107 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract At the end of Chap. 3, we noted that health care policies made through the political and legal systems in the United States affect, and are affected by, current and anticipated economic conditions. Similarly, we argued in Chap. 1 that health care providers, especially physicians, were the drivers of the health care system, and that the services they produce and supply, have economic implications. As a result, this chapter examines the impacts of economic factors on the health care system.
