Abstract: Abstract While there are many internal and external factors that determine the success of a contemporary organization, the leaders of successful organizations recognize the integral role that an organization’s employees play in that success. The importance of employees in determining both the present and future success of any organization becomes apparent when utilizing environmental scanning. In assessing an organization’s present situation, its leaders engage in the necessary formulation of a mission statement, goals, strategies, and objectives, thereby ensuring continued and, ideally, enhanced organizational success in the future.
