Chapter 5 in Realizing Organizational Effectiveness, 2024, pp 15-17 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Thus far we have considered the nature and reality of contemporary organizations and the issues that they face. An ever-present challenge of any organization operating in an attractive business space is the existence and at times preponderance of current competitors. These competitors seeking to attract the same target customers and are similarly seeking to recruit and retain highly qualified employees from an often limited applicant pool. Business literature describes this reality as the existing rivalry within an industry. The organization must continually address the challenges posed by both the threat of new competitors and that of substitute products. Practical steps toward demonstrating the value that an organization provides within its industry will also result in attractiveness of the present and future strategic directions of the organization.
