Chapter Chapter 2 in The Economics of Tourism Destinations, 2012, pp 17-44 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Tourism is a highly complex phenomenon and can be fully understood only by adopting a multidisciplinary approach. In fact, the tourism activity has been studied by many disciplines, being economics, geography, sociology, and history the most productive; however, this book will focus only on the analysis of the economic aspects surrounding the tourism activity. Hence, our approach should contribute to the deep understanding of tourism as an economic phenomenon, by leaving to other disciplines the task of providing a more complete picture of how tourism works.
