Chapter 1 in Sustainable Transportation, 2016, pp 1-11 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Sustainability has become an overarching concern for transportation policy and planning around the world. Like sustainable development, the concept of sustainable transportation is broadly defined, which permits policies and practices to be labeled as ‘sustainable’ while pursuing business as usual approaches. Thus, there is a pressing need to better integrate and apply sustainability principles to transportation. Performance measurement frameworks offer an effective way to do this.
