Growth in an Open Economy
Giancarlo Gandolfo
Chapter 14 in International Finance and Open-Economy Macroeconomics, 2016, pp 311-329 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter examines three important questions: (a) whether it is possible to talk of a mechanism of export-led growth; (b) whether, given an economic system which is growing for internal causes, this growth has favourable or unfavourable effects on the system’s balance of payments; (c) what are the conditions for enjoying growth and balance-of-payments equilibrium (“balance-of-payments-constrained growth”).
