Chapter 1 in Energy Economics, 2017, pp 1-13 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter seeks to answer a few questions of general interest: Why has energy economics developed as a separate discipline of economics? Why does energy economics cover more than the straightforward application of standard economic methods and models to energy markets? What are the reasons for politicians to have a particular propensity to intervene in energy markets?
