Chapter Chapter 10 in Microeconomic Theory, 2018, pp 319-361 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Observed market failures and inefficiencies such as those in medical insurance and unemployment insurance are well known. Possible causes include incomplete information, incomplete markets, and incentives. This and the next chapters will focus on incomplete information as a possible cause for market failures. We deal with competitive firms in this chapter and monopolies in the next chapter.
