Abstract: Abstract On 28 July, 2009, on the occasion of his first speech as Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, the Christian democrat Laurent Mosar stated that “70% of the bills adopted by the Chamber were related to European directives,” and that for this reason national MPs would have to be more involved in the whole European legislative process rather than acting only at transposition time. He recalled that the Lisbon Treaty would give national parliaments more means to do so, and wished to this end that the government would inform the assembly as swiftly as possible about preliminary legislative texts discussed at the European level.
