Abstract:
Abstract While the previous chapter surveyed the principal developments in the measurement of price movements, the present chapter focusses on the role that prices play in welfare comparisons between households. It provides the methodology used in selected empirical studies, reported in the following chapters, that examine the welfare implications of price changes.
