A chapter in Service Challenges, Business Opportunities, and Regulatory Responses in the Postal Sector, 2024, pp 187-201 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies aim to achieve cognitive tasks traditionally performed by humans. This chapter explores how postal operators can benefit from various applications of AI, but also how their adoption may be constrained by their specific economic and social responsibilities. In particular, AI automation can improve productivity and competitiveness but may lead to job losses. To ensure a smooth transition, postal operators and authorities should focus on deploying AI solutions that enhance productivity and provide training for non-automatable or complementary roles. Promoting responsible AI adoption is crucial for the common good.
