A chapter in Postal and Delivery Innovation in the Digital Economy, 2015, pp 233-245 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Historically, Postal Operators (POs) have benefited from a monopoly of services and from governmental aid. Lately, liberalization in the postal sector together with the decrease in revenues coming from the mail business have forced the re-thinking of the business models of POs. Leveraging the traditional role of interface between government and the public, some POs have opted for the diversification of their business into the more sustainable provision of financial services.
