Abstract: This article aims to discuss the importance of scientific research in the field of economic analysis in the contemporary economy. In particular, it presents the situations in which the activity of the entity must be investigated by economic analysis, the objectives and the role of the economicfinancial analysis in the management process. In this article we will refer to the problems of the scientific research development of the economic analysis and to the directions for solving these problems. Consideration has been given to how economic analysis accelerates scientific development, as well as the importance of research into economic analysis for the development of the knowledge-based economy. Moreover, the fundamental reason for this approach is related to the economic development of the Republic of Moldova.
