Human Trafficking/Forced Labor and E-Learning

Abstract:
Firstly, the author summarizes latest data and key findings on the subject of human trafficking, in particular forced labor, also commonly known as modern day slavery. In this context, the focus lies on labor resulting in the production of goods to be bought in westernized countries. The article intents to exclude all information on forced labor related to sexual exploitation wherever possible. Following, the paper outlines current knowledge on the feasibility and/or effectiveness of e-learning training tools within organizational training. Advantages and disadvantages, issues and challenges with employing e-learning tools within organizational training schemes are pointed out. Those two pools of knowledge are then brought together to analyze the feasibility and meaningfulness of applying e-learning training tools towards anti-human trafficking training schemes -especially forced labor/modern day slaverywithin organizations. Since organizations are sometimes involved against their will in forced labor actions due to supply chain challenges, business leaders seek ways to play their part in eradicating the illegal practice. The author aims to analyze possible challenges which might hinder knowledge transfer in regard to e-learning training tools and anti-human trafficking. As all organizational training incurs direct and indirect expenses, the analysis adds knowledge as to the meaningfulness for businesses and organizations to employ an e-learning tool in connection with training on forced labor.
