Erasmus Student Mobility Flows - The Case of Slovenia

Abstract: Paper analyses student mobilities to/from Slovenian higher education institutions, which have been involved in the Erasmus Mobility Programme between the academic years 2007/08 and 2011/12. Slovenian Erasmus mobility network consists of over 11 thousand outgoing/incoming students to/from 25 Slovenian institutions. All analyzed student exchanges are classified by their study area and other variables, such as gender, age, and credit points. Network analytical methods revealed countries and institutions that are the most attractive for Slovenian students. On the other hand, we found countries and institutions that are the best exporters of Erasmus students into the Slovenian higher education system. In addition, the most interesting Slovenian institutions are analyzed on the individual level by using the egocentric network approach.
