Economy and Digital Society of the European Union Countries Based on the Desi Index

Abstract: The DESI Index is a collective comparison of European Union members illustrating development of economies and digital society. The Index is based on components such as: connection infrastructure, human capital, Internet usage, integration of digital technology and digital public services. Author used statistical data available for years 2014-2017. In next step author analyzed it for all European countries with special attention for Poland. The results of the analysis shows growing disproportion between top and tail countries. In 2017 ranking Poland is placed on 23th position which is average score. This paper explains which drivers have the positive influence on a economy of the most developed countries and it's digital society development (such as Dutch, Finland, Sweden). Paper also underlines negative factors for econimy development. Author reviewed long term perspective and activities proposed by members which will lead to progress on development.
