The Role of Knowledge Skill of the Labour Force in Attracting Foreign Direct Investments in Kosovo

Abstract: The foreign direct investments play a crucial role for the Kosovo economic development. Based on the research done by the Kosovo Business Alliance during 2016 in Kosovo, 674 new foreign business have been opened. Compared with 2015 this represents 41% increase. Based on the Kosovo Strategy (Kosovo 2020) for attracting foreign as advantages have been seen, “the labour force, unused natural resources, the agricultural land of good and quality and access to regional and EU markets”. This research paper will analyse the correlation between the knowledge skills of the labour force in Kosovo in its role for attraction of the foreign direct investments for the period 2008 – 2018. Currently, in Kosovo, there is a low level of studies that reflect the correlation between the attraction of foreign direct investments and the professional preparation of the work force that are correlated to the role for direct foreign Investments. There are several international missions that have been focused in supporting different fields of Kosovo. Creation of new human capacities and knowledge skills of the labour force is also one of them. This paper will be focused on providing the trend of FDIs in Kosovo and the period 2008 and make correlation knowledge skills of the labour force for the same period.
