Abstract:
The research work is a form of the school and outside school activities with which young people build on and complement the school knowledge, added by practical value and interest are directed to different areas of science. The young people strengthen their confidence in their work and thinking, assess their foresight and knowledge, learn to clearly and publicly express their opinions, develop specific skills, important for life and critical thinking in addition to state and train themselves for effective presentation skills. In our school, we have been introducing different models of open learning for many years. Students of ninth grades were so own initiative and decided to do a research paper, titled Baroque clothing. Their research was mainly practical, since they first visited the Regional Museum Maribor, where they watched a permanent exhibition. They learned the way of dressing that is prevalent in the Baroque time. This was followed by the collection of appropriate material for clothing and accessories, and then tailoring, machine- and hand sewing clothes and making various accessories. After sewing and manufacturing they dressed themselves in clothes, made in order to feel the authenticity and then creating fashion. For students who have experienced and are experiencing such way as research work, was observed significant progress in social and communication skills, development of a comprehensive view of the problem and an ability to think critically.
