Abstract:
The Intelligence activity implemented by the Prison Police Corps is the complex of info- operational activities carried out within the Prison Institutes and in the Investigation Corps aimed at the prevention of destabilizing activities of any nature, based on analysis and careful research and scrupulous of elements of knowledge whose possession is necessary or useful in the detection and repression of offenses related to the ascertainment and identification of perpetrators whose objective is directed to the violation of National and International Security. e Intelligence action implemented by the Prison Police, is configured by gathering the sources of evidence that are procedurally necessary (Articles 55, 347 of the Criminal Code) for the implementation of the Judicial Police procedures which are essential for achieving the aim, outlining the indispensable conduct for the fight against organized crime and terrorism. e Prison Police, has taken on an essential role in the cooperation of Intelligence between national and extra-national police forces, assuming an increasing strategic importance, following the continuous and specific surveillance activity carried out against the prosperous prison population that it holds within the Penitentiary Institutes, which has increasingly diversified criminal peculiarities, both by nationality and culture, making an assiduous development of penitentiary systems and global jurisprudential regulations indispensable, implying in specific cases, collaborations with International Governmental Institutions, giving rise to the spread of information classified for the implementation of joint operations between the multiple police forces in order to suppress any unexpected urgencies.
