Abstract: Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine the concept of tacit knowledge and analyze the Nonaka's model of knowledge creation to seek answers to the questions: Is all knowledge shareable? Does the organization know the knowledge that needs to be shared? sign/methodology/approach - The methodology used was an extensive literature review that helped identify and analyze relevant international publications. The literature was categorized in six themes: Tacit knowledge, Knowledge environment, Competitive Organization, Knowledge Management, Type of knowledge and Knowledge sharing. Research limitations/implications - This is a conceptual paper that should contribute to the existing literature by comprehensively reviewing the concept of tacit knowledge in the organization and sharing tacit knowledge within organizational borders based on selected research of literature. Originality/value - This review could be the basis for future researches to deepen the concepts of tacit knowledge sharing within organizational borders, so that managers could use the findings to identify the tacit knowledge that needs to be shared in the organization.
