A chapter in Aplicaciones en Economía y Ciencias Sociales con Stata from StataCorp LLC

Abstract: This appendix shows the use of basic statistical inference tools. The chapter is divided in three main sections: hypothesis testing, confidence intervals and regression analysis. The aim is to offer the basic requirements needed for the reader of “Aplicaciones en Economía y Ciencias Sociales con Stata”. Users with little or no statistical background will find this chapter specially valuable to support the understanding and comprehension of some of the language employed by the authors in different sections of the book. The reader will find further statistical applications, as well as intermediate and advanced concepts, throughout the chapters of this book.

Resumen: Este anexo muestra el uso de técnicas de inferencia estadística básica. El capítulo se divide en tres secciones principales: prueba de hipótesis, intervalos de confianza y análisis de regresión. El objetivo es ofrecer un repaso inicial y mostrar la base mínima con la que el usuario del libro “Aplicaciones en Economía y Ciencias Sociales con Stata” debería emprender la lectura de los capítulos. El estudiante con poco o nulo conocimiento de las técnicas de inferencia estadística básica aplicadas a ciencias sociales, verá en esta sección una ayuda invaluable para la comprensión del lenguaje empleado por los autores en distintas secciones. El lector encontrará aplicaciones concisas de conceptos estadísticos intermedios y avanzados en cada uno de los capítulos de este libro.
