Abstract: This note provides an introduction to two prominent econometric benchmarking methods: Data Envelopment Analysis and Stochastic Frontier Analysis. It discusses the econometric techniques, provides a practical example using the World Bank's Enterprise Survey data, and offers conclusions for development practitioners.
