Abstract: The main purpose of the study is to document and analyse the changing composition of bilateral trade flows (with a focus on intra-EU trade flows) considering various indicators and dimensions of trade flows. Further, an important part of the study is devoted to the role and magnitude of intra-firm trade. As information on intra-firm trade is limited the study proposes and compares various measures. Moreover, based on its theoretical and empirical results, the study should inform policy-making in the European Commission.
