Abstract: This chapter surveys the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and artificial intelligence-enabled (AI-enabled) manufacturing systems from a use case perspective. The authors propose a human system ideology of sensory organs and mind to conceptualize the IIoT and AI-enabled manufacturing systems in a novel way. Emphasis is placed on surveying recent scientific articles that provide illustrations and practical applications. Several important problems are captured for interested researchers as directions for future research.
