Markets for Trading Carbon Risk

Martin Hellmich and Rüdiger Kiesel

Chapter 7 in Carbon Finance:A Risk Management View, 2021, pp 125-164 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: In this chapter, we discuss the design and functioning of a market for trading carbon emission certificates. We will use the carbon credit market as our prime example as this market has rapidly gained importance recently (see Section 2.4). This market is also of particular interest as the rules on projects generating offsets are still diffuse and need to be tightened in the near future.
