Spatial Regression Model Specification and Measurement Errors

Anıl Eralp and Rukiye Dağalp

Chapter 2 in Modeling and Advanced Techniques in Modern Economics, 2022, pp 23-45 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: There are various models that allow the spatial autocorrelation between observations to be considered in modeling. However, it is seen that the effects of measurement errors in both the response and explanatory-variables on the unknown parameters of these models have not been adequately investigated. In this study, within the framework of spatial linear mixed model and spatial econometric models (spatial lag model and spatial error model), the effects of measurement errors in the existing literature are discussed theoretically and taken into account that both or only one of the response and explanatory variables are measured with error.
