Abstract:
AbstractIn this paper we examine the relative contributions of the UK transport sector to total UK energy use and carbon dioxide emissions. Focusing on road transport, we examine recent trends in vehicle fuel consumption and discuss opportunities for improvement. Using a set of models developed under ESRC grant number L119251013 we examine the relative effectiveness of various government policies in terms of improved fuel efficiency and carbon dioxide emission reductions.
