The Business Processes of CBHI

Alexander S. Preker and David Dror

Chapter 12 in Health Microinsurance:Implementing Universal Health Coverage in the Informal Sector, 2020, pp 255-278 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: Standardizing the business processes of a community-based health insurance (CBHI) enhances the efficiency of the scheme and thus encourages enrollment and future renewals. We discuss the standard CBHI processes for enrollment, claims decisions, claims payment, renewals, participatory note modifications, accounting, and fund management. The business rules define the periphery within which the scheme functions and clearly define the roles of the key actors of the scheme.
