Chapter 3 in Fundamentals of Sustainable Business:A Guide for the Next 100 Years, 2020, pp 45-75 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
Previously, a number of sobering environmental and social problems were outlined that are direct results of shortsighted technological expansions. Rather than relying on the government to orchestrate a solution, a small but determined collection of entrepreneurs from various business sectors and locations have begun to re-envision and re-invent commerce. Their new approach offers businesses improved long-term financial stability and a positive relationship with the natural world and human communities. The enduring rewards from using proven natural world production themes as models for business are becoming increasingly clear. At this point, for some, it may seem foolish for business leaders not to take advantage of the innumerable trial-and-error experiences of life on Earth and to make use of the lessons learned in the redesign of our commercial endeavors. Perhaps recognizing, respecting, and using natural themes in this commercial revolution has begun to seem rational, sensible, and even essential to you.
